Pull the refill's plastic tab and remove the outer rim
Pull about 1' of the plastic rim out of the refill, then push down the film through the center of the rim and tie a knot at the bottom
Open the lid and funnel and sit the refill on top of the unit; pull the handle and push the rim through the pail
Close the funnel and close the lid

Your Rating Litter Genie is the best thing I've come across in years, and I couldn't find the dratted refills anywhere locally. Don't know how they do it, but this system really DOES control odor much better than plastic grocery sacks. Value Pet Supplies had the best price for refills I could find, so I ordered. They were delivered lightening quick, along with several bags of sample treats for our two incredibly spoiled kitties (which they love, which I suppose means I'll have to order some!). I used to have to find plastic bags daily which didn't have holes and it seemed that I got as much litter on the floor as I removed from the bag. The order came promptly, and they even included two sample bags of Greenies Smart Bites. My cat wont eat any treat other than Feline Greenies. These treat he went bonkers over.
