I needed more filtration for my 125 gallon fresh water tank which is overstocked. I read the reviews on the Fluval FX6 and was very impressed. For about 2 weeks I continued to read reviews, and compare canister filters. I finally decided I would try the the Fluval and after another week of research I found the best deal on it at Value Pet Supplies. In fact they were $36.00 better than any price I could find. The price was right, the shipping was fast, and the set-up of the FX6 was easy. In fact the hardest part of set-up was rinsing the filter media. The system cleared my somewhat cloudy 125 in 3 days. I will caution that at start-up of the filter, after it runs for a minute, it purges the air from it. Be careful because the air comes out like a volcano and it boiled over the back of my tank. I think you can minimize this by adding more water to the filter during the initial priming set-up. The instructions call for 2 gallons to be added to the filter. 2 gallons will only partially fill the filter which leaves room for a lot of air. You may also try lowering your water level in your tank some before start-up. All in all the Fluval FX 6 is a great, quiet filter. I would buy it again!
